My Wedding!

Everyone at the studio (all of our BDA friends) were so loving and supportive since Mike and I got engaged back in July of 2009! I would have mom's peak their heads into my room and students asking me each week if I had any new wedding details to tell them about, or if I'm getting excited, or how does my dress look, etc.,  which was so wonderful and just made this wedding time that much more special for me!

I have to say I have the most amazing mother in the world! I'm sure most of you know Nanette, but if you don't you'll never meet a better, or kinder, or more generous person than her. As you know from my dances and production numbers, i'm a bit of, I guess, a perfectionist and like to go a bit above and beyond. So if you can imagine, planning my wedding was quite a production itself. I wasn't just a normal bride who picked vendors quickly and easily, and on the first try!  No, we did consultations with about 5 florists before I picked my amazing floral designers, we went to maybe 12 dress shops from here to Massachusetts to New York City, twice (where I finally ended up picking my first dress I tried on from Kleinfelds), we went and watched our band that we chose perform live about 3 times with different people each time to make sure they thought it was the right choice, which the band ended up being the best choice of all, they were phenomenal!! to stationary, we did it all ourselves (invitations, programs, table numbers, place cards, etc....) My mom was by my side for all of these, never complained, never told me I was a crazy person (well once in a while she would imply that lol) and just gave all her support and assistance from the start, not to mention throwing us the wedding of our dreams!! So as I said before I have the best mother in the world, and I'd say the best dance studio owner in the world, since she did all of these wedding things while keeping the studio going. She's always telling people she told me from when I was little I could only get married in the summer when the studio was not in session, and instead I got married during our second busiest time of the year! Love you Mom!

Merry almost Christmas from The Bolton Dance Academy!!

We hope all of our BDA friends and families are having a wonderful holiday season!  December has flew by for us.  I'm sorry there hasn't been many blog posts lately, but with all the wedding and holiday craziness there has not been much time for anything else :) . Things are getting back to normal around here finally and we have lots of blog posts prepared & coming at you soon!

Here is a video recap of some of our routines we performed at this year's Festival of Tree's.  I would like to give a big shout out to all of our specialty dancers, who did and incredible job this year.  The girls participate in the South Glens Falls Holiday Parade and the Festival of Trees every year, the weekend before Thanksgiving and the weekend after Thanksgiving.  What you probably do not know is that they have one rehearsal to learn and somewhat perfect their parade routines, and only 3 classes to learn and perfect there Christmas routines for Festival.  For any non dancers reading this, that is a really short time to learn a dance!! So I am so proud of them every year for doing such a great job under pressure and on such a short time frame! Great job girls!

2010 Holiday Parade!!

Can you believe Thanksgiving is in less than a week?? This year has been flying by for us!
Every year our specialty groups march and preform in the South Glens Falls Holiday Parade, and we will be there again this year.  We would love for you to come watch us!  Look for Mike driving the big maroon "Dancenbg" Yukon and listen for our songs this year "Christmas Time is Here Again" and "Jingle Bells".  It starts at 1:00 p.m. and takes place between the Spare Time Bowling Alley to about Massie's Restaurant.  Hope to see you there!! :)

Happy Halloween!! (Video of the Week!)

Happy Halloween everyone!  Here is a video that I thought was appropriate being that today is Halloween.  It was our production numbers from that opened up the 2nd half of our 2009 recital "Decades of Dancing".  There were about 40 girls from Freshman to Seniors doing a hip-hop/jazz dance.  They all did a great job getting into the character of this routine, and I think was one of their favorites!

Studio closed for Columbus Day!!

The studio will be closed Monday October 11th in observance of Columbus Day!  Classes will resume Tuesday October 12th.  Have a great holiday! :)

October is here! Video of the Week!! "Mama I'm a Big Girl Now"

The leaves are falling, the temperature is getting cooler, and the BDA is already into their 4th week of the 2010-2011 dance season!  The video I choose this week is from this past season's dance recital "I Dance NY".  The girls did a great job and the audience seemed to love it!

Video of the Week!!

Something new we're going to try is a video of the week!  I will be posting some favorite dances from past recitals as often as i can (the plan is once a week, but you know how busy we get!)  Feel free to send some suggestions of your favorite dances you would like to see on the blog in the comment box. :)  

The first video we chose is "Haunted" from the 2008 recital "Dancing is our Sport" that we had at, the very hot, South Glens Falls High School, because Glens Falls was under construction that year.  It was a huge hit.  Hope you enjoy! :)

Opening Week!!

We had a great opening week of our 2010-2011 dance season with lots of new and old faces.  The studio was very busy this week during the early evening hours with many parents excited to watch their anxious young dancers start their first class, but it always calms down after the first few weeks when everyone starts to get used to how we work, so don't worry! :)  The popular classes this year seem to be Theatre, and of course Hip-Hop!!! 

Our shoe exchange is underway, so if you or your child have grown out of last years shoes feel free to bring them in to sell, and pick up a new pair! Their will be a lot of new and used shoes for sale within the next few weeks!

Lastly if you haven't checked out the new BDA apparel be sure to look at it next week.  It's all hanging right above Julie's office!
